TEXTURED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (TVP)
TVP is a high protein vegetarian meat replacement made of soy flour. When rehydrated, it has the texture of mince.
It is also high in iron and naturally free of gluten. TVP takes on the flavour of whatever you cook it with.
To rehydrate, soak 1 cup of TVP with 3/4 cup + 2Tbsp of boiling water or stock.
Use it to make shepherds pie, burger patties, spaghetti bolognese, or make a mexican taco filling by mixing it with diced tomatoes, onion, garlic and mexican spices.
